About the position

Would you like to help strengthen Nofima’s position in gene editing within the field of aquaculture?

We are looking for a new scientist to join the Department of Breeding and Genetics at Ås, which will strengthen our position in gene editing within the field of aquaculture. The department’s work involves breeding, quantitative genetics, genomicsand optimisation of individual phenotype registrations in aquaculture. The department has a strong international profile. The position is linked to work in departments related to fish health, fish nutrition and production biology.

As a scientist at Nofima, you will enjoy a high degree of independence. You will have the opportunity to explore your own research ideas and generate new projects, as well as build relevant networks both externally and internally. The position will also provide you with many opportunities to contribute to ongoing projects in both your own department and other Nofima departments. Many of the projects you will be working with allow you to combine your technological expertise with applied project work towards our academic deliverables. Your role and responsibilities will give you the opportunity to work in close collaboration with external industry partners. Duties: 

  • Developing and establishing relevant laboratory methodologies
  • Initiating and developing new projects 
  • Collaborating with external partners in industry and research
  • Preparing reports and scientific articles
  • Contributing to other ongoing projects

Qualifications:

  • Applicants with a PhD in biotechnology, molecular genetics or equivalent, including expertise in gene editing
  • We encourage both recent graduates and experienced scientists to apply for the position
  • Experience regarding bioinformatics related to gene editing
  • Good verbal and written skills in English, including presentations
