Tanganyika Blue is seeking an Aquaculture Graduate Technician to join its operations team at Lake Tanganyika, Tanzania. This is an entry-level, hands-on role designed for candidates with aquaculture, fisheries, aquatic science, or related background, who are eager to gain broad operational exposure.
Tanganyika Blue is pioneering the first commercial Tanzanian Native Species Aquaculture farm on Lake Tanganyika. The organisation's mission is to catalyze a sustainable blue revolution by establishing Native Species Aquaculture practices that support food security, community empowerment, and environmental sustainability in the Lake Tanganyika region. The company is expanding its aquaculture operations and moving to Kimbwela, Kigoma.
This role is intentionally varied. The successful candidate will support aquaculture operations, water quality monitoring, basic laboratory and field sampling, equipment maintenance, data recording, and general site activities. Over time, the role can develop in technical, operational, or supervisory directions depending on performance and interest. This position suits someone who is practical, adaptable, and comfortable working across disciplines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support day-to-day aquaculture operations including fish handling, feeding, harvesting, and site activities.
- Assist with routine water quality monitoring, sampling, and basic environmental data collection.
- Support basic laboratory, field, and lake-based sampling activities under supervision.
- Assist with operation, monitoring, and basic maintenance of aquaculture equipment and infrastructure.
- Accurately record operational, environmental, and production data and support basic reporting.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, and environmental guidelines.
- Work collaboratively with scientists, technicians, and operations teams across the site.
- Perform any other duties reasonably assigned by the supervisor or manager.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Aquaculture, Fisheries, Aquatic Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Biology, Engineering, or a related field.
- No prior professional experience is required; however, any relevant prior experience will be considered an advantage.
- Basic understanding of aquaculture systems, water quality, or aquatic environments.
- Willingness to learn and work across technical, operational, and field-based tasks.
- Practical mindset with good problem-solving and observation skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Comfortable working outdoors and in operational environments.
- Basic computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office.
- Strong spoken and written English and Swahili.
