Job Description

LAMAVE is seeking a Project Leader to join our team in Puerto Princesa, Palawan and Pintuyan, Southern Leyte studying the local whale shark ecology and population dynamics, as well as, monitoring tourism operations and compliance with local codes of conduct. 

The Project Leader will manage the day-to-day fieldwork and outputs of the project and work closely with the Project Supervisor to ensure research goals are accomplished. The role includes: managing and mentoring the Research Assistant and a team of volunteers (local and international), engaging with tourists and guests onboard tour boats with the capacity as the local researcher, and organizing and facilitating stakeholder meetings and training, as appropriate. 

The selected individual will also be expected to assist in various scientific, community, and educational activities LAMAVE is involved with. This position is ideal for someone interested in project and volunteer management, gaining experience in fieldwork management and planning, and establishing community ties for conservation work. 

Position Type: Full-time

Location: Puerto Princesa, Palawan and Pintuyan, Southern Leyte

Length of Position: 3 years (with a 3-month probationary period)
