The Irish Environmental Network is hiring a Project Coordinator: Marine Biodiversity and Offshore Renewable Energy Capacity-Building.

This is a new role within the IEN and an exciting opportunity to help shape public debate and policy in relation to marine biodiversity as the rapid move to decarbonise accelerates. The successful candidate will collaborate with members of the ENGO sector, liaise with senior government officials, European Commission staff, public representatives in Ireland and Brussels, ENGO representatives and networks, and will develop relationships and alliances with representatives of other sectors as appropriate. About You

You are an energetic, self-starting individual who is comfortable working both as part of a team and autonomously. You welcome guidance and direction and enjoy working with a coalition of partners. You are detail-oriented and process-minded, but also flexible and welcome input and feedback. You are comfortable working in a small organisation and in a network context, bringing people together to achieve collective goals. Our members are situated throughout the country, and so you are excellent at remote and intercultural communications. You are a creative problem-solver.

Essential Criteria

• Relevant education qualifications in environmental policy, law or a related discipline
• At least 2 years’ experience in advocacy or project coordination at a national, European or international level
• Proven experience of policy analysis, planning and producing own research and policy documents to tight deadlines
• Proven ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing to a range of audiences
• Experience in managing budgets
• Experience in project planning, management and delivery

Desirable requirements

• Experience and knowledge of marine biodiversity, fisheries policy and/or renewable energy
• Experience of Irish and European policy-making landscape
• Experience of nurturing relationships with a broad range of stakeholders
• Knowledge and experience of working in a membership-based organisation or within the NGO/community and voluntary sector

This role offers the opportunity to join a dynamic organisation and to work with a diverse coalition of leading Irish civil society organisations. This contract is for a 3-year, part-time (4 days/week) role and salary is payable monthly in arrears.
