Become a Professional Diver while you are involved in a Mediterranean Biodiversity Project! During your dive master training you can participate in our biodiversity projects and get the Research Diver SDI certification.  Program also includes opportunities for instructor training following your qualification as a DiveMaster.  All data collected is passed on to local authorities and University in order that they may implement new protection policies to ensure long term survival of the marine ecosystem in the Mediterranean coasts. You could also expect to participate in environmental activities and environmental education classes. At iMARES, we offer a   research internship for master’s students   interested in applying digital tools to marine conservation. The project will use   conservation culturomics and iEcology   to analyze human-nature interactions and improve biodiversity monitoring in the Mediterranean. The study will focus on   recreational fishing , both as an environmental pressure and as a valuable data source. The project will analyze how feeding behavior influences marine connectivity and ecosystem structure, using a database with   over 34,000 records   of interactions between organisms. MRAG is currently recruiting scientific fisheries observers to work on krill trawling  vessels in the Southern Ocean. Initial deployments will be on vessels operating around  South Georgia in the South Atlantic from approximately mid-May to September (exact  dates are dependent on vessel schedules), and deployments are typically between 60  and 90 days. The Antarctic krill fishery is managed and regulated by the Commission for the  Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources ( CCAMLR ), and within South  Georgia, further management measures are applied by the Government of South  Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands ( GSGSSI ). Mechanical Design Engineer - Short Term The role is to design a RAS system for bivalves, including an automated solution for cultivating bivalves. This will be done in collaboration the systems, algae growing (photo bioreactor) and aquaculture research teams.   Work in conjunction with the software team to incorporate system sensors, video and sound feeds, and automated controls. Overview The Sea Turtle Camp Program Coordinator is responsible for the planning and coordination of Sea Turtle Camp’s 13-17 teen NC overnight camp. Our program attracts academically strong applicants who are interested in careers involving marine science, and they are required to complete an application process to attend, which includes academic references. During the summer months, we have three programs running simultaneously with approximately ten staff who are working as leaders, counselors, and educators.
