I am an Independent Scientist with the National Scientific and Technological Research Council of Argentina (Puerto Madryn, Argentina). I received a doctoral degree in Biological Sciences in 2006, from University of Buenos Aires (Buenos Aires, Argentina). I specialize in reef-fish ecology and in the monitoring and management of recreational fisheries. I am a professional diver with experience in field work, underwater video techniques, and the development of monitoring protocols for coastal fisheries.
I began to work as a Doctoral Student at CONICET in 2001. My early scientific interest focused on the ecology, management and conservation of the reef-fish assemblage of the northern Patagonia rocky reefs. My Doctoral Thesis focused on the ecology and spatial dynamics of one flagship species of the Northern Patagonia rocky reef fish assemblage from the Argentine Sea, the Argentine sandperch Pseudopercis semifasciata. During my postdoctoral studies, I got involved with the management of the reef system and incorporated underwater video to monitor the rocky-reef fish assemblage, aiming at overcoming the limitations imposed by scuba diving. Since I became a Scientific Researcher, in 2008, I expanded those initial objectives by continuously developing new lines of research. At present I have published more than 30 scientific papers, 12 book chapters and numerous Technical Reports.
