During my master's studies, I had the privilege of conducting my master's thesis internship at
the Tropical Marine Science Institute in Singapore, under the guidance of Dr Sandric Leong
Chee Yew and the Team HABs, studying the dynamics of coastal phytoplankton communities
focusing on HABs species. Analysis involved both metagenomic techniques, such as the
analysis of e-DNA using Nanopore sequencing, as well as the collection of environmental
data. These environmental data, such as temperature, salinity and nutrients concentrations,
were used to establish how they can influence the biota in coastal environments, using
PRIMER sofware. The resulting thesis was called “Dynamics of Singapore coastal phytoplankton communities: insights into temporal variation through Nanopore sequencing” and my findings were also presented as a poster at 6th International Postgraduate Conference on Biotechnology held in Singapore
