I am a driven aquatic biologist passionate about conservation-related works and addressing environmental pollution, particularly plastics and related pollutants. I have a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Fish & Fisheries and a Master's degree in Aquatic Biology, complemented by practical experience gained through an internship investigating crab diversity in Sundarbans mangroves From the Zoological Survey of India. I also have the basic experience of working with Microplastics due to my dissertation examining microplastic abundance in mangrove fish species from the National Institute of Oceanography. I am a focused individual, continuously working on my skills through various internships and research works and I am confident in using my academic knowledge and research experience to contribute meaningfully to understanding the effects of these pollutants on the environment, with a specific focus on mitigating the effects of plastic pollution on marine ecosystems.
Worked on “Diversity of Crabs in Sunderban Biosphere Reserve”; Under the guidance of Dr. J. S. Yogesh Kumar, Scientist-E, Sunderban Regional Centre, Zoological Survey of India
During this intern position, I have gained Skills & Experience In conducting ecological and biodiversity surveys in the mangrove regions along with the ability to interact with the local population, Identification of Brachyuran crabs, molluscs and fish species found in these regions, basics of Q-GIS, Biodiversity & Conservation related works and also conducted some awareness programs.
Worked on “Risk of Microplastic Accumulation in Edible Fishes – An
Assessment from the Mangrove Regions of Central West Coast of India”; under the guidance of Dr. Mahua Saha, Principal Scientist, Department of Chemical Oceanography, CSIR-National Institute of Oceanography, Goa, India.
During this research work, I further enhanced my skills in conducting samplings for scientific research in mangrove environments, market surveys, communicating with the locals and various water and sediment parameters analysis & gained experience in the subjects of environmental pollution specifically plastic pollution & Microplastic. I also learned the instruments like Stereo zoom microscope, ATR-FTIR and SEM.
