Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and manage marine conservation projects, working hand in hand with the Program Manager.
- Develop comprehensive project plans, timelines, and milestones to ensure successful implementation.
- Build and maintain relationships with government agencies, local communities, collaborators, and partner organizations.
- Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among stakeholders involved in conservation initiatives.
- Oversee the collection and analysis of environmental data, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and relevance.
- Contribute to the development of reports based on research findings, for internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop and implement community outreach programs to raise awareness about marine conservation.
- Plan and conduct educational workshops and events for local communities (adults and kids).
- Collaborate with field teams and provide logistical support for field operations, including travel arrangements and equipment procurement.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the program.
Qualifications and skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- A Master's degree in Marine Biology, Conservation, or a similar field will be positively valued.
- Demonstrated experience in coordinating and managing conservation projects, preferably in a marine environment and with NGOs.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, demonstrating the capacity to effectively navigate multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously, ensuring a streamlined workflow.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Spanish and English for effective collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting, with great attention to detail.
- Ability to effectively search and validate scientific information, adept at literature citation and communicating scientific findings to diverse audiences.
- Researcher with advanced skills in source validation, citation management, and scientific outreach adapted to different levels of expertise.
- Genuine passion for marine conservation and a commitment to sustainability.
- Adaptability and versatility in dynamic circumstances, showing strong problem-solving skills and a practical approach to addressing challenges in the field of marine conservation.
- Rescue Diver (minimum). Experience in scientific research and familiarity with the seabed of the Canary Islands is valued.
- Knowledge of the social, cultural, and environmental context of the Canary Islands. Being from the Canary Islands (canario/a) will be especially valued.
- Driving license B.
- Experience with software or applications for photo and video editing and design is appreciated.
