Internship at the European Seaweed Association.
European Seaweed Association (ESWA).
The European Seaweed Association (ESWA) is offering a challenging internship where the successful candidate can contribute to a sustainable and innovative European seaweed sector and play a part in the transition to a sustainable future with a new and versatile resource.
ESWA is the representative body for the European seaweed industry. Seaweed has huge potential to make a positive contribution to global challenges. The organisation 1) represents the sector, 2) supports its member network and 3) promotes the seaweed sector on behalf of more than 130 member organisations from across Europe. In addition, ESWA manages the largest Offshore Test Site in Europe (twelve kilometres off the coast of Scheveningen) and the first seaweed farm in an offshore wind farm, NSF#1.
Why Seaweed?
Both the climate crisis and a growing world population challenge us to find new solutions. Seaweed cultivation offers a major opportunity. Seaweed does not require agricultural land, fresh water or fertilisers to grow, which makes it one of the most sustainable crops to cultivate. It is a highly versatile and nutritious marine plant that can be used for many sustainable applications: as food for humans, animals and plants, as packaging material and even as biogas.
As an intern at ESWA, the successful candidate will have the chance to immerse themselves in the world of seaweed and actively contribute to a variety of projects and activities in the seaweed sector, depending on interests and background.
Examples of activities include:
The intern will work together with stakeholders across the seaweed value chain and with the enthusiastic ESWA team. The internship is full-time (40 hours per week) for a period of six months, with at least two days per week at the office in The Hague. Start as soon as possible.
What the Organisation Offers:
The Hague, Netherlands.
€500 per month (gross internship allowance, full-time).
Applicants should send their CV and cover letter to hr@northseafarmers.org.
