Centre

Knowledge, Innovation & Entrepreneurship Centre (KINEC)

KINEC is responsible for identifying, structuring, and delivering innovation opportunities, ensuring the transfer, deployment, and exploitation of CMMI capabilities in real-world environments.

Job Purpose

CMMI is seeking a highly motivated early-career engineer to join KINEC as an Innovation & Project Delivery Engineer on a fixed-term contract.

The role focuses on execution, coordination, and delivery of applied engineering and innovation projects involving external partners, municipalities, industry stakeholders, and research centres.

This is not a research-only role. The primary objective is structured delivery, disciplined execution, and real-world impact.

The position reports to the Head of KINEC and works in close coordination with the Business Development Unit (BDU), Research Centres, Administration Units and external partners.

Duties & Responsibilities

Opportunity Structuring & Project Delivery

• Support conversion of opportunities into structured project scopes, workplans, timelines, budgets, and responsibilities

• Monitor day-to-day execution and maintain delivery discipline

• Identify and flag risks early (capacity gaps, delays, partner underperformance)

• Ensure projects move forward on time with clear accountability

External Partner & Consortium Coordination

• Support identification and coordination of external delivery partners (SMEs, consultancies, Centres of Excellence, industry)

• Assist in structuring subcontracting and partnership arrangements

• Track deliverables and ensure partner accountability

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

• Support engagement with municipalities, public authorities, clients, and industry partners
• Ensure regular communication and physical presence where required

• Translate client requirements into actionable delivery tasks

Research-Linked & Grant-Funded Projects

• Contribute to applied engineering tasks in grant-funded projects where required

• Support proposal development involving pilots, demonstrations, and real-world deployment

• Coordinate delivery-related work packages to ensure tangible outputs

Innovation Transfer & Exploitation

• Support deployment and exploitation of CMMI technologies, infrastructure, and know-how
• Contribute to pilots, demonstrations, service models, partnerships, and early productization
• Strengthen CMMI’s innovation visibility and exploitation potential

Compliance & Reporting

• Ensure adherence to ethical, data protection, health & safety, and institutional compliance requirements

• Maintain clear reporting lines to the Head of KINEC

Minimum Eligibility Criteria (Required Qualifications)

• Degree in Engineering, preferably in maritime/marine-related disciplines (e.g., Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Coastal/Offshore Engineering) or a closely related applied technical field

• Early-career profile (e.g. recent graduate to ~3 years’ experience), with evidence of a strong delivery mindset (internships, placements, applied projects).

• Strong organisational skills, reliability, and willingness to take ownership of execution tasks.
• Ability to operate in client-facing and multi-stakeholder environments

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Excellent command of English

Desirable Qualifications

• Exposure to EU or national research grants

• Experience in municipal, public-sector, or industry environments

• Familiarity with marine, maritime, environmental, coastal, or offshore contexts

• Basic project coordination or project management experience

• Ability to work in Greek and English

• International mobility experience

Type of Employment

• Full-time

• Fixed-term contract of six (6) months with the possibility of renewal based on performance and available funding

• Expected start date: As soon as possible
