Cleanwave Foundation
At Cleanwave Foundation, we believe marine restoration works best when science and community come together. Through our MedGardens initiative, we’re restoring marine habitats across Mallorca, from Portocolom to pilot sites in Formentor and Sant Elm, while engaging local communities in the process.
We’re looking for a hands-on, curious, and proactive Marine Scientist who’s excited by variety: one day you might be underwater collecting data, the next analysing results, designing outreach activities, or writing reports that shape real-world impact.
This is a small, dynamic team, so you’ll have real responsibility, space to contribute ideas, and opportunities to grow as the initiative evolves.
This is a true all-round role combining science, operations, and community impact:
Fieldwork: Conduct ecological monitoring (scuba & snorkel), support restoration activities, and engage with local stakeholders in the field.
Scientific communication: Write clear, engaging reports for different audiences (technical and non-technical)
Community & outreach: Support and co-create workshops, volunteer activities, and awareness campaigns.
Logistics & operations: Manage equipment, coordinate fieldwork logistics, and ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
Innovation & growth: Contribute ideas to improve projects, expand impact, and help shape the future of MedGardens.
Background in Marine Biology, Oceanography, Environmental Science, or similar
Proven experience in marine fieldwork and ecological monitoring.
Experience in data analysis (e.g. Excel, GIS or similar tools).
Experience of communicating scientific knowledge to a wide range of audiences.
Scuba diving certification (Divemaster or higher preferred).
Driving licence (B or higher) and access to a vehicle.
Fluency in Spanish, Catalan and English.
Proactive mindset – you don’t wait to be told, you spot what needs doing and make it happen.
Team player energy – you enjoy working closely with a small, motivated team.
Curiosity & adaptability – you’re comfortable switching between fieldwork, analysis, and outreach.
Strong communicator – able to translate science into engaging, accessible messages.
Organised but flexible – you can manage logistics while adapting to changing field conditions.
Creative thinker – you bring ideas to improve projects, outreach, and impact.
Attention to detail – you care about doing science properly and rigorously.
What we offer
A diverse, meaningful role at the intersection of science, community, and impact.
A chance to grow with an innovative and expanding marine restoration initiative.
A flexible, hybrid working environment (office in Santa Maria).
A supportive, passionate, and purpose-driven team.
Start date: June 1st, 2026
Contract: Full-time, hybrid & flexible
Salary: €24,960 – €32,880 gross/year (depending on experience)
Reporting to: Managing Director
If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.
Please send your CV and a short cover letter explaining your experience and motivation to: 📩 info@cleanwavefoundation.org
