€600 monthly

Job Description

At iMARES (ICM‑CSIC), we offer a research internship for bachelor’s or master’s students interested in quantitative ecology, spatial analysis and reproducible data science. The project introduces students to Species Distribution Models (SDMs) to explore how marine species respond to global change, using open biodiversity records and environmental variables such as temperature or salinity.

The study will involve integrating heterogeneous datasets, preparing spatial data, implementing SDMs and evaluating model performance using reproducible statistical workflows. The student will develop skills in spatial modelling, R programming, data visualisation and best practices in open science while working in a collaborative, international research environment.

Requirements:

  • University students in the final year of a bachelor’s degree or enrolled in an official master’s degree during the 2025–2026 or 2026–2027 academic year.
  • Bachelor’s degree GPA: 7.5 or higher

Preferred qualifications:

  • Fluency in English
  • Knowledge of a R programming, ecological modelling or spatial analysis.Interest in urban ecology, wildlife health or contamination studies.
  • Interest in quantitative marine ecology and open‑science workflows.

What We Offer:
