At iMARES (ICM‑CSIC), we offer a research internship for bachelor’s or master’s students interested in biodiversity conservation, digital ecology and human–nature interactions. The project applies emerging approaches such as conservation culturomics and iEcology to improve monitoring of recreational fisheries, a key but under‑quantified component of Mediterranean marine ecosystems.
The study will use digital data to explore ecological and social dimensions of recreational fishing, helping to assess its ecological impact and its potential as a large‑scale, cost‑effective monitoring tool. The student will work with R‑based digital data mining workflows, analyse ecological and socio‑ecological datasets, interpret results and contribute to written outputs.
The internship offers training in data mining, quantitative analysis, reproducible workflows, R programming and interdisciplinary conservation science within an international research environment.
The principal investigator (IP) will be Valerio Sbragaglia
