Description of the job The Department of Marine Technology at NTNU offers a 3-year postdoctoral position in the field of hydrodynamic loads on seaweed and macro algae. The application of the research is towards industrialization of seaweed production in general, and design of floating seaweed production facilities in particular. The main cost of a seaweed farm is the longlines, which there may be hundreds of kilometers of. The seaweed grows on the longlines and is exposed to waves and current at various stages of growth. The hydroelastic behaviour of the seaweed is not sufficiently well understood, and hence there are no good hydrodynamic load models. Detalles del embarque: Salidas desde varios puertos del Mediterráneo, con destino al puerto de Cartagena. La campaña se desarrollará según la zona de pesca del atún rojo. Embarques desde la primera quincena de mayo. Duración aproximada: 4 a 8 semanas. Funciones principales: Seguimiento de los atunes transferidos a un remolcador asignado. This is a one-year position, for a person resident in France, working remotely.  Project Context LandSeaLot - Land-Sea interface: Let’s observe together! is a Horizon Europe project (Feb. 2024 - Jan.2028) that seeks to integrate and enhance existing coastal observation efforts - including in-situ, satellite, modelling, and citizen science—to better study the land-sea interface area, where terrestrial and marine habitats meet. TransEurope Marinas, an Association Loi 1901, acts as a community engagement partner within the consortium, leveraging its extensive network to co-design monitoring strategies and test innovative, scalable solutions.
