PhD Scholarship in Ocean Carbon Flux Modelling (Centre for Fisheries Ecosystems Research)
€18,604 yearly
Blue-jobs St. John's, Canada
Job title PhD Scholarship in Ocean Carbon Flux Modelling. Company Centre for Fisheries Ecosystems Research (CFER), Fisheries & Marine Institute, Memorial University. Description of the job The Centre for Fisheries Ecosystems Research (CFER) is seeking a PhD Student to estimate carbon fluxes in the Northwest Atlantic from Earth system and ecosystem models. This position is part of Transforming Climate Action, a seven-year, $397 million collaboration among Dalhousie University, Laval University, Université du Québec à Rimouski, and Memorial University. The largest research theme within Transforming Climate Action is Reducing Uncertainties in Carbon Cycling in the Northwest Atlantic Seas (Uncertain Seas). The goal of Uncertain Seas is to better constrain the role of the ocean in the Earth's climate system by reducing uncertainties with physical and biogeochemical processes that control the global ocean carbon cycle. The focus is on the...

PhD Contract - Economic Feasibility and Market Opportunities for Industrial BFT Implementation (Kveloce)
€54,523 yearly
Blue-jobs Valencia, Spain
Job title PhD Contract - Economic Feasibility and Market Opportunities for Industrial BFT Implementation. Company Kveloce. Description of the job Kveloce is offering a PhD position under the SwitchFloc Grant Agreement, a project funded by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Doctoral Networks programme. The project aims to train the new generation of professionals in Biofloc Technology (BFT), an innovative and sustainable aquaculture system. About Biofloc Technology: Thanks to BFT, it is possible to recycle C and N waste into valuable biomass suitable to be used on-site as a nourishing food source, reducing the need for aquafeeds and enhancing animal immune system. The N conversion into microbial fraction allows minimal water exchange, reducing water requirements. Moreover, BFT ensures biosecurity due to the absence of communication among tanks. However, BFT is still a relatively new technology that needs to be better understood, mainly under intensive...

Funded PhD Opportunities – Revolutionizing Greenshell™ mussel aquaculture production in New Zealand (University of Auckland, New Zealand)
€18,000 yearly
University of Auckland
We're looking to take on three PhD students. If the below is of interest, please get in touch. Project description: The Greenshell™ mussel industry is New Zealand’s largest aquaculture sector. Despite its success, future growth and production are constrained by the inefficient use of very small seed mussels (“spat”). Our previous research has shown that deploying larger spat can substantially reduce on-farm losses and significantly improve production efficiency. We are seeking three PhD candidates to join a collaborative research programme aimed at overcoming these bottlenecks and transforming the way mussels are farmed in New Zealand. Two PhD projects will focus on developing and optimizing husbandry practices for commercial mussel nursery systems, working closely with industry partners. The third PhD project will develop scalable, commercial approaches for separating small mussel spat from spat collectors, providing high-quality seed for nursery culture....
