Description of the job The Research Unit of the University of the Aegean seeks a First Stage Researcher (R1-MSc) with experience in underwater passive acoustics and good understanding of bioacoustics. The researcher will contribute to the implementation of the LIFE MareNatura project (LIFE22-NAT-EL-LIFE-MareNatura/101113792), co-funded by the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA). The position focuses on the analysis of long-term passive acoustic data from autonomous fixed recorders and from short-term hydrophone deployments. The work includes extraction of underwater noise metrics, detection of cetacean and other marine fauna sounds, and characterization of the underwater soundscape.
